Patrick Grzybowski Obituary

Patrick Joseph Grzybowski, age 75, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Toledo facility surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 18, 1948 in Toledo, OH to William and Louise (Dziedzic) Grzybowski. As a teenager, he joined the “Neptunes” Drum and Bugle Corps. He continued his passion, stepping up when the original director passed the Baton to Patrick. After graduating from Woodward High School, he was employed as a letter carrier for the USPS for 32 years, retiring in 2003. Pat was a Veteran of the US Air Force serving four years in Germany during the Vietnam era. He was a very active member of the American Legion Argonne Post #545 having served as Post Commander in the 90’s, Finance Officer, Lucas County Commander in 1997-98 and First District Commander in 2002-03. Other organizations include the CWV Jude Thaddeus Post 1675, Voiture 141-40.8, the Lucas County Veterans Service Commission, the Toledo Soldiers Memorial Association, and the United Veterans Memorial Day Association. He also served as the American Legion Department of Ohio Finance Officer, and as an American Legion Service Officer for the Toledo VA Outpatient Clinic for 16 years. Pat was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an excellent cook, known for his Polish and Cajun cuisine. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends. He was a parishioner of Sts. Adalbert and Hedwig Catholic Church.

Pat is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Viola (Hagedorn) Grzybowski; children, Victor (Sandra) Miller III, Jessica (Kenneth) Reau, Bryan (Patricia) Miller, April Lowe, Angela (Edward Ottensman) Grzybowski, and Andrea (Mike Miller) Hudson; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, David Grzybowski; and sister-in law, Mary Grzybowski. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Grzybowski; sister, Kathleen Albright; brother, Jerome Grzybowski; sister-in-law, Mary Grace Grzybowski; and daughter-in-law, Jenny (Piorkowski) Miller.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 28 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with an American Legion service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will begin Friday, December 29 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Adalbert and Hedwig Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
