Paul Donald Brunner, age 88, of Toledo passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Monclova, OH on Sunday, September 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 30, 1934 in Northwood, OH to Rollin and Mary (McGinley) Brunner. He attended Northwood High School and was a Veteran of the US Navy.
Paul was a long-serving union official with the Jeep Unit of Local 12, UAW. He was an elected steward, committeeman and vice-chairman. Further, when Chrysler bought Jeep in 1987 the company and union formed a joint program called Product Quality Improvement (P.Q.I), which found ways to improve quality, and reduce costs. Paul was a UAW co-chair of this program and under his guidance the Jeep Plant had the best P.Q.I. results in the entire Chrysler Corporation year after year. He retired in 1999.
Paul was an avid golfer. He golfed on the Jeep Retiree League and proudly scored two holes-in-one at Detweiler golf course over his golfing career. He also enjoyed fishing and going to casinos with his wife Ann.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Horn Brunner on February 25, 2011 after 47 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. He is survived by his daughters, Vera (Bill) Henricks and Cheryl (Larry) Runyan; sons, Herman “Ed” (Pam) Manuel and Gregory Brunner; sisters, Judy Glass and Donnie Kenny; brother, Carl Brunner; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, September 9 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
