Phyllis Kubiak Obituary

Phyllis S. Kubiak, 95, formerly of Toledo’s Point Place community, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at The Gardens of St. Francis living community, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 28, 1929 in Toledo, OH to Frank and Agnes (Jasinski) Izbinski, and grew up as a parishioner of Nativity Catholic Church. Phyllis was employed as an office assistant for Carl E. Zerner at Merchants Accounting & Tax Service, retiring from there in 1958. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Phyllis was happiest caring for others. She was a devoted caregiver to both of her parents, as well as her sister Martha. She was a terrific cook who enjoyed preparing traditional Polish dishes for her family. Throughout her life, she enjoyed dancing, gardening, being outdoors, and simple joyful activities. A parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Phyllis volunteered in many aspects of her children’s activities while they attended school. She was always open to new ideas and experiences, even later in life…such as joining her husband on a tour of construction of the Toledo Skyway bridge. Living at The Gardens of St. Francis only increased the size of her family. Phyllis was known for having a kind heart, and open ears to follow the lives of those who helped care for her there. She had unending support for her children’s interests and careers, until the time of her passing.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Eugene Kubiak; brother, Florian Izbinski; brother, Edwin Izbinski; and sister, Martha (Casimer) Czlapinski. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Peter) Trojnacki; son, Thomas (Peggy) Kubiak; grandson, Ian (Robyn) Kubiak; brothers, Richard (Josie) Izbinski and Melvin Izbinski; brother-in-law, Leo Kubiak; nieces and nephews.
