Robert Anthony Gillis, age 95, of Perrysburg, OH and formerly of Glenn St. in Toledo, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Otterbein Senior Living surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 6, 1931 in Toledo, OH to Adam and Bertha (Zeyzus) Gillis. Robert was a graduate of St. Hedwig Catholic Grade School and Macomber High School. He began his career at Auto Lite and Ort Tool & Die before founding Gillis Machine, which he owned and operated for more than 50 years. He was a former parishioner of St. Clement Catholic Church.
Robert is survived by his brother, Thomas Gillis; aunt, Tina; nephews, Joe (Alisha), Olin (Ronda), James, Steven, Ethan, and special nephew, Anthony; and nieces, Becky (James), Diana, Maddison, Ashlyn, and Tomasena (Bryan) whom he and his mother raised. Also surviving are many more great-nieces and nephews, notably his great nephew Zarek with whom he was close. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Lewis; and niece, Cheryl.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14 from 12-1 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Road. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
