Robert Daniel Michalak Sr.

Robert Daniel Michalak Sr., 94, of Toledo, and formerly of Jeanette Ave., passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 16, 1928 in Toledo, OH to Walter J. and Stella (Grzelak) Michalak.  Robert attended Woodward High School before beginning his career as a letter carrier for the Toledo US Postal Service Central Station, where he retired after 29 years on December 29, 1989.  He was a 63 year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, as well as a 35 year representative for the NALC Health Benefit, and a member of NARFE.  Robert was a life-long parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.  He was an avid sports fan and loved rooting for his teams, The Ohio State Buckeye’s, Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers.  Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he will be dearly missed.

Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Shaffer) Michalak; son, Robert (Angie) Michalak Jr.; daughters, Michelle (Dominic) Scarvelli, and Julie (Daniel) Del Gratta; grandchildren, Meagan Michalak, Alesia Michalak, Annessa Michalak, Danny Del Gratta, Cameron Del Gratta, and Jacob Michalak; sister, Violet Harrison; brother, Clarence (Marilyn) Michalak; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gertrude Settles, and Bette Jagodzinski; and brother-in-law, Wayne Harrison.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 21 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  with a Rosary at 7.  Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Sts. Adalbert and Hedwig Catholic Church at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
