Robert Dale “Bob” Thigpen Jr., age 70, of Toledo, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born on March 24, 1955, in Toledo, OH to Robert and Patsy (Fair) Thigpen Sr. Bob was a graduate of Bowsher High School, “Class of ‘73”. He worked for Ziebart Rustproofing as a welder and installer for a number of years, and as a forklift driver for the Anderson Warehouse on Bennett Rd. for 15 years, retiring in 2021. Bob was blessed with a friendly and outgoing nature as well as a wonderful sense of humor. He loved meeting new friends and could talk to anyone about anything. He also was known to be quite a jokester. One of Bob’s favorite pastimes was singing karaoke, especially at “Barbie’s Place” on Bennet Rd.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Sarah Cofer (Tim Birt) and Elizabeth (Robert Steedley) Thigpen; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his stepsons, Michael (Mike Shaw), Matthew (Diane), Brian (Debbie), and Jeremy (Angie) Brighton; sisters, Cynthia (Tony Abate) Conley, Patricia (Louis) Bauer, and Mary (Bill) Gladieux; brothers, Edward (Laneace), Mark, and David Thigpen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cathy Ann Thigpen; and brother, Richard Thigpen.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 6 from 3-6 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Trevor Carr presiding.
