Robert James “Jim” Lusiak, age 95, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 25, 1927 in Toledo, OH to Joseph and Lottie (Gontarski) Lusiak. Jim was a graduate of St. Hedwig Catholic Grade School and Woodward High School. He was an Army Veteran who then worked for the City of Toledo Parks and Recreation for 25+ years. He was primarily stationed as the greenskeeper at Detweiller park and golf course, until retiring in 1985. Jim enjoyed playing the harmonica, spending his summers on the golf course with his friends, teaching his grandchildren how to play golf, and fishing for salmon up north in the fall. Most of all, he loved sharing the past 67 years with his beautiful wife, Theresa. Jim was a member of PRCUA and the Catholic War Veteran’s Jude Thaddeus Post 1675. He was a former parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and current parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Jim is survived by his wife, Theresa (Kurek) Lusiak; children, Linda (Paul) Pratt, Lisa (Craig) Shoffer, and David Lusiak; grandchildren, Heather (Lori) Insera, Hillary (Jon) Locy, Lauren (Cal) Williamson, Katelyn, Logan, and Tyler Shoffer; great-grandchildren, Jon, Eli, Cruz, Ace, Carissa, Ana, and Emily; and one great-great-granchild, Audree. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Roman; and brothers, Alvin, Henry, and Leonard Lusiak.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25 from 3-7 p.m at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the Holy Name Society will lead a Rosary at 6. Funeral services will begin Wednesday in the funeral home at 9 a.m. and continue with the funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the VFW 606 Burial Corps.
