Ruth Adamski, age 95, passed away on June 30, 2026, at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio.
Ruth was born on February 15, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio to Stanley and Constance “Cory” Pogenitus. Ruth graduated from Springfield High School in 1948 and went on to work in the billing department at Tiedtke’s in downtown Toledo. In 1955 she married Walter “Bags” Adamski, and they shared 28 years of marriage until Walter’s passing in 1983.
Ruth was proud of her Polish heritage, and she was a dedicated member of the Toledo Area Polka Society. She loved to attend polka dances and would often be seen at area festivals in Toledo dancing and listening to her favorite polka bands. She also enjoyed bowling and was an avid fan of watching the PBA games on television. Ruth also enjoyed old sitcoms, westerns, and mysteries. An avid reader, Ruth loved going to the library and would read 2-3 books per week. Ruth also enjoyed the casino and took weekly bus trips to Motor City and Fire Keepers.
Since the age of two, Ruth was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Toledo, and she was a member of the Daughters of Mary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and many friends, cousins, and in-laws. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie, “grand-dogs” Frankie and Eleanor, and many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral arrangements and interment will be private. Any memorial contributions can be given to the family.
Ruth’s family would like to thank Rosary Care Center, especially the staff of the second floor, and Heartland Hospice for their kindness toward Ruth over the past two years, as well as her friend Nancy for her kindness, help, and friendship.
